Engineering Internship Experience
Industrial Engineer
I joined the Robotics Team within Continental AG under the supervision of Kevin Francis back in October 2018. This was my first encounter with professional engineers. The team, along with the rest of the company, exposed me to many different aspects of which business is ran. More importantly, it exposed me to how a team of engineers cooperate with each other in order to get projects done.

Within my role of an Industrial Engineer Intern, I was to design, fabricate, and test projects that worked collaboratively with our helpful robot helpers. Universal Cobots (or Collaborative Robots) were used in the clean rooms for the manufacturing process and a few Omron robots were used to transport materials throughout the plant. I also learned about electrical components of both the mechanization systems and the production costs of different projects.

Overall, the experience gained enabled me to observe professional engineers, be involved with the engineering project process, and dwell in different disciplines of engineering.
Project Engineer
I joined Allan Myers as a Project Engineer during the Summer of 2020 under the supervision of Garen Khoranian. The construction industry was face-paced, always changing, and the challenges of were abundant. Garen mentored me utilizing his vast knowledge of construction, business, and engineering. He expanded my mind on what I am truly capable of doing in and out of the engineering realm.

During my internship, I was responsible for learning the processes of development and life cycles of the assigned projects such as the I-66 Road Expansion and Improvement Project. Aside from learning how to use hand tools like the infamous shovel, I also learned how to use common construction instruments like the transit, which assists in determining elevations. I also learned how to operate the machinery like the flat-drum roller and the bulldozer. This was definitely the funnest part of this internship.

This experience has been an important one because over the summer I transformed my networking skills and was determined to figure out what career path was truly for me.
